First, keep people away from the tree
Storm-damaged trees can move without warning. Do these things before you call:
- Keep people and pets away from the tree and anything under it.
- Stay well away from downed power lines, and from any tree or limb that touches one. Call 911 or Xcel Energy.
- Do not climb the tree or cut hanging limbs yourself. Wood under tension can spring back.
- Take photos of the damage from a safe distance for your insurance company.

What we do after a storm
Denver storms, including late spring and early fall snows, break limbs, split trunks and push trees over. We respond quickly to help remove storm-damaged trees, and we are available during critical weather events.
- Assess. An ISA Certified Arborist looks at the damage and tells you which trees can be saved and which must come down.
- Make it safe. We remove hanging limbs and trees that rest on roofs, fences, cars or driveways.
- Power lines. When a tree is close to power lines, we arrange for Xcel Energy to clear the lines first. Then we remove the tree.
- Clean up. We haul off the debris. Stump removal after a fallen tree is a separate item.
- Repair what stays. Corrective pruning removes torn and broken wood so a damaged tree can recover.

Can a storm-damaged tree be saved?
Often, yes. It depends on how much of the canopy is lost and whether the trunk or main limbs split. An ISA Certified Arborist assesses the tree and tells you if corrective pruning can save it or if removal is the safer choice.
Will my homeowners insurance pay for tree removal?
That depends on your policy. Many policies cover removal when a tree falls on a covered structure. Photograph the damage before work starts and ask us for an itemized estimate to send with your claim.
Is stump removal included?
No. Stump removal is a separate item that we can add to the job.
Can I prevent storm damage?
Yes, in part. Pruning removes dead and weak limbs and reduces heavy ends, which lowers the chance that wind and snow break them.
